Guided Alpine, Rock, and Ice Climbing
Whether you just want to check rock climbing out for the first time, or work on your
physical and mental abilities to lead that first 5.11 sport route, you won't find a
better guide/instruction service than this one. The owner is the author of two
guidebooks to Montana climbing, and his operation is tailored to all abilities. This
one is a great way to add some real adventure to your vacation, and throw some variety
into a fly-fishing or other more conventional vacation. A day spent climbing very
well could be the highlight of your Montana trip, and you might just decide to spend a
week at it next time!
Rock climbing instruction ranges from beginner classes where you can see what it's all about, intermediates who learn to second 5.6 to
5.9 with experienced leaders, and advanced classes where you learn the art of leading at
the "sharp end of the rope". Short trips take place near Bozeman, and
full-day adventures explore little-known venues in the Castle Mountains, Humbug Spires,
and Madison Range.
Alpine climbing courses range from one-day beginner courses that teach the basics needed
to safely travel over easy Alpine terrain of both rock and snow, and include route
finding, a snow school, and other basics that will enable you to climb smartly and
efficiently. The intermediate Alpine course is an
overnighter to a gorgeous mountain lake. From there you embark on a 8-11 pitch climb
involving 45-50 degree snow and up to 5.7 rock, and work on refining techniques with an
emphasis on efficiency and safety. Advanced classes are multi-day expeditions
tailored to your specific objectives & desires. If you dream about 1,500 foot
AI3 climbs, five pitch 5.9 climbs to the top of dazzling spires, or long mixed routes of
snow, ice and rock, but are hesitant, then you might think about one of these courses.
For the real hard-cores, ice climbing instruction is also available.
The owner wrote the book "Big Sky Ice", and a lot of current ice climbing
techniques were pioneered by him and his group of cronies right here in southwest
Montana. Beginner to advanced courses are offered along with guided climbs of some
of North America's best classics.1-877-613-0404
